Kidero:I’ll not vie for any ODM post

By JUSTUS WANGA February 1st, 2014 1 min read

Nairobi will not have any significant post in ODM after Governor Evans Kidero abandoned his ambition of going for the party’s vice-chair position.

Making the announcement, Dr Kidero said he was giving other party members an opportunity to vie for the post, promising to support whoever would get the delegates nod to occupy this seat.

“I have my reasons for withdrawing but the main one is that I want to give others a chance to vie for the post. You should not read too much into this (withdrawal) as I am still loyal to the party and will fully support it,” he said.

There are rumours circulating that the candidates from Luo Nyanza received some tongue lashing from Mr Raila Odinga, the party leader early in the week before they opted out of the race.

Others who have withdrawn their candidature include MPs John Mbadi, Ken Obura and Dalmas Otieno – who had all expressed their interest in the Secretary General’s position.

Former Makadara MP Reuben Ndolo and former Mayor George Aladwa want to vie for the National Organising Secretary’s position.
