Kidero to inspect traffic lights ahead of roll out

By KIARIE NJOROGE December 16th, 2013 1 min read

Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero will on Tuesday  inspect the recently installed traffic lights in readiness for their unveiling.

Dr Kidero said that the unveiling, which had been scheduled for December 11, was put off to allow for the systems to be fully functional.

He said that there was a problem with the switch gears, the devices that open and close electrical circuits, but this had been sorted out.

He added that the traffic control room was ready but did not disclose when they expect the traffic control system to become operational.

However, some motorists have reported that some of the lights sometimes failed to work  during the heavy rains  experienced in the city last week.

Drivers have also requested the time allocated on the countdown timers be reviewed on a need basis as some will cause chaos especially at roundabouts.
