Kidero, Shebesh set for reconciliation talks

By NAIROBI NEWS January 12th, 2014 1 min read

Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero and women representative Rachel Shebesh are set to hold reconciliatory talks on Sunday.

Indications are that the two politicians will either meet face to face or through their lawyers.

Governor faces assault charges for allegedly slapping Ms Shebesh during a scuffle at City hall in September last year.

Director of Public Prosecution Keriako Tobiko subsequently wrote to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation boss Ndegwa Muhoro asking him to prefer assault charges against the governor.

But  Justice Isaac Lenaola handed Dr Kidero a temporary relief by issuing an order for the two politicians to seek an out of court settlement.

Ms Shebesh had initially ruled out agreeing with Dr Kidero to withdraw the court case. But she now seems to have opened up to the possibility of a settlement with Dr Kidero.

Lawyers of the two politicians are scheduled to return to Justice Lenaola  on January 13 for further orders and a report on the progress of the negotiations.
