Kidero reinstates Nyambane to plum job after months in the cold

Nairobi Governor Dr Evans Kidero has reinstated Mr Walter Mongare, aka Nyambane, as the Director of Communications in his office after a three-month suspension.

The letter of reinstatement was written by County Secretary Dr Robert Ayisi and is dated August 2, 2016.

It states that Mr Mongare should resume his duties Thursday the 4th day of August 2016.

Mr Mongare’s employment with the county government was terminated on May 11, after he failed to comply with conditions stipulated in his letter of appointment.

The conditions included submission of his academic credentials, Helb clearance form, certificate of good conduct and certified copies of clearance from the credit reference bureau by May 11, 2016.

Speaking exclusively to Nairobi News, Mr Mongare said he continued to draw a monthly salary during the period of his suspension.

“When you are suspended from your job, is not the same as being fired. A case is put in place and if there is no reason for me to continue to be suspended then I get reinstated and I continue with my job,” he said.

“The suspension was baseless,” he added.

He however refused to comment on whether he finally submitted his credentials or not.

Media producer in the office of the governor Faraji Kevin said that Mr Mongare’s suspension was malicious and was an emotional decision made following the collapse of a building in Huruma in April.

“As you see the suspension came after the Huruma building and it was an emotional moment for everyone,” said Mr Faraji.
