Kidero to roll out red carpet at launch of Raila’s presidential bid


Raila Odinga will formally enter the Presidential race with his deputy Kalonzo Musyoka on Sunday followed by campaign trails in Nairobi County across various constituencies and a public rally at Jacaranda grounds.

The National Super Alliance (Nasa) Nairobi team, led by Governor Evans Kidero, is all set for the historic day in the lead up to the August 8 general elections.

Speaking at City Hall on Friday, Dr Kidero said that he was ready to host the official launch of campaigns and eventually the swearing in of ceremony of Mr Odinga and Mr Musyoka as the President and the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya.

Dr Kidero said that over one million people drawn from all over the country will convene at KICC/City Hall way from 10am on Sunday for a celebratory procession.

“We are expecting one million Kenyans from across the country on Sunday.We will convene at KICC/City Hall way as we look forward to our Nasa team leaders receiving the green light to formally begin the campaign,” said Dr Kidero.

PUBLIC RALLY

The procession will move through various constituencies beginning with Starehe, Makadara, Embakasi East before culminating in a public rally in Jacaranda.

“I would like to make it clear to our competitors this team you see here means business. We are proud of the fact that Nasa’s team in Nairobi represents the face of Kenya as we have representatives from all communities,” said Dr Kidero.

Kidero also said the team will not relent until it delivers one million votes in the city to ensure Nasa wins the Presidency and the county.

Meanwhile, the governor has assured those who will be in attendance that the county has put in place adequate security measures.

Kidero was accompanied by the women representative aspirant Esther Passaris, Senate aspirant Edwin Sifuna and various parliamentary aspirants in the city.
