Why Kenyans want this picture mounted on a billboard at JKIA
A photo of a triumphant Kenyan athlete majestically strolling on the pristine tartan track at Kasarani with his utterly exhausted competitors sprawling on the ground wowed his fellow countrymen and now they want it mounted on a billboard at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
One Kijana Shujaa posted the picture on social media and asked corporate organisations to ensure it makes it to a billboard at JKIA.
The photo has gathered more than 4, 000 retweets. The want the picture of Edward Zakayo to be the one welcoming visitors to Kenya.
Mr Zakayo won a heats race in the boys’ 3,000m on the second day of the IAAF World Under-18 Championships in Nairobi, but lost to Ethiopia’s Selemon Barega in the finals and settled for silver.
In the picture, nearly all his rivals collapsed in a heap on crossing the finish to catch their breath as a gallant Zakayo gracefully strode away – the last man standing in the practical sense of the word.
Retweet if you agree this picture shoud be in a billboard at JKIA #IAAFWU18GrandFinale@Kenyaairways@Safaricomltd
