Kenyans can’t agree whether to congratulate or condemn Ruth Jebet

Opinion is split on whether to congratulate or condemn Kenyan-born Bahraini Ruth Jebet who floored Kenyans to win a gold medal in the 3,000m steeple chase in Rio Olympics.

The 19-year-old beat Kenyan Hyvin Jepkemoi who won silver in the race.

The Kenyan-born now competes for Bahrain, her adopted country and her Monday win gave the country its first Olympics gold.

Tweeps were uncontainable after it was revealed that Jebet will be paid Sh52 million by the Bahrain government, while Kenyan runner and record breaker David Rudisha, who retained his crown by winning a gold in the men’s 800 meters, will only pocket a measly Sh1 million.
