Kenyans applaud Yego’s record breaking heroics
Kenyans on Monday took to Twitter to celebrate Julius Yego’s record breaking throw that saw him break the IAAF Diamond league and African Javelin throw record during the Diamond league in Birmingham, Great Britain.
The mighty throw of 91.39m was also the best in the world since 2006 as Yego, a relative newcomer to the discipline, continued to grow in form and stature.
His heroics saw Kenyans take to Twitter with congratulatory messages and others finding humour in the victory.

Yego dedicated the win to his son Jarvis and wife Chemutai along with fans who constantly urged him to keep going.

Nicknamed “The YouTube man” for picking training tips from the the internet video portal, the 26 year old Policeman was breaking the national record for a third time at the IAAF events.
Last Thursday, Yego launched his spear to another Kenyan record of 87.71m in the fourth round, adding 85cm to the mark he set a week earlier in Ostrava where he threw 86.88m.
The 26-year-old policeman won the 2014 Commonwealth Games by beating Walcott after throwing a distance of 83.87m to become the first Kenyan to win gold at the event.
He had opened his season this year in Doha Diamond with the season’s best of 81.98m to finish sixth.
