Kenya Railways halts Nairobi Commuter service train

By Amina Wako December 29th, 2021 1 min read

Kenya Railways says it has scaled down the Nairobi Commuter Rail services owing to low demand.

Thus, the commuter rail services which operate to Ruiru, Embakasi, Kikuyu and Syokimau, and Lukenya in Kitengela will be temporarily stopped between December 28 and January 2, 2022.

The firm has however maintained that the daily Madaraka Express passengers Service to and from Mombasa /Nairobi will continue to operate on a daily basis.

Plus, the Madaraka Express passengers Service between Nairobi and Suswa station in Narok will operate on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

The statement comes a day after Kenya Railways issued a clarification regarding claims that it had imposed restrictions on the size and weight of luggage that passengers can carry.

“Kenya Railways wishes to clarify that it has not issued any new directive regarding the size and weight of luggage that passengers can bring on board,” the statement reads.
