Keli voted Fans’ Player of the Month

AFC Leopards striker Jacob Keli was on Thursday presented with his Fans Player of the Month – May Award at the SuperSport offices in Nairobi.

Keli garnered 6,170 votes in the online poll conducted by soka.co.ke to beat in form Gor Mahia custodian Boniface Oluoch (3,649 votes), Mathare United youngster Erick Johanna (485 votes), former Sofapaka forward Fiston Abdoul (42 votes) and Western Stima goalkeeper Gabriel Andika (19 votes).

Keli expressed his joy upon receiving the award and thanked the fans for choosing him as their favourite player in the month of May.

SEASON TARGET

“I’m very delighted to win this award and I want to thank all the fans who voted. It’s a good initiative and it proves our local league is getting better,” Keli said,

“I performed well in May but not as I would have wished. My target this season is to score at least 20 goals and I’ll therefore work even harder after the mid-season break,” he added.

Keli was presented with a trophy and Sh 10,000 cash reward. Gor Mahia’s Victor Ali Abondo won the award in March.

There was no award in April as the former platform that initiated the Award – www.kplchat.com was in the process of rebranding to www.soka.co.ke. The next award will be after the June mid-season break.
