KCB women confident of strong start to new volleyball league season


KCB women’s volleyball team is exuding confidence of mounting a strong challenge in the new season that commences on Friday in Nyeri County. The team will face MKU at Kamukunji grounds in their season opener in a 9am clash.

Speaking on Thursday during a training session at the venue, head coach Vernon Khayinga said the squad is in good shape.

“The morale at the camp is very high and we are looking forward to a great game. We will give our best in the outing,” said Vernon.

THE SQUAD

Team captain Maiyo Eunice will lead the squad against the university side. Friday’s game will see Gladys Wairimu and Farida Efumbi start as the setters, while Christine Siwa, Modesta Chepchirchir and Pauline Nyongesa will be the middle blockers.

Vernon has also selected Milgreen Lutuvula, Elishiba Chepkemoi and Doreen Marani as the main attackers while new signings Sharleen Maiwa and Lucy Sakon’g will be the right attackers with the experienced Linnet Mukambi playing the libero.

The bankers will however face stiff challenge from multiple league champions Kenyan Prisons and Kenya Pipeline.
