Witch doctor in court

The murder case involving a Kawangware witch doctor will now be mentioned next week after police were granted seven more days to finish investigations.

Geoffrey Wanjala Wechule, a witchdoctor in Gatina area, appeared before Judge Roselyne Korir on Tuesday to face charges for butchering his lover.

He is said to have killed Jane Kadogo Mutiso on Sunday night following a domestic quarrel.

The victim’s body parts were found inside his iron sheet house.

Prosecution told Judge Korir that it needs a week to complete investigations into the grisly murder.

“We are requesting that the accused be remanded at Muthangari police station for the next 7 days so that we can be able to complete our investigations,” said the prosecutor.

Judge Korir directed that the accused be remanded in police custody to allow for proper investigations.

She also directed the Deputy Registrar to get a lawyer for the accused.

The suspect had allegedly invited the woman to his rented house which he shares with his four children from a previous marriage.

He is reported to have left the house in the night after committing the murder and surrendered himself to Muthangari police station.

The case will be mentioned on October 29, 2013 where the suspect is also expected to plead to the charges.
