Kapenguria Boys student back to school after sponsor feels his pain – PHOTOS

A Form Two student who was chased from Kapenguria Boys High School due to fee arrears now has a reason to smile.

A mysterious sponsor, together with fundraising by Kenyans online, has seen the boy back to school after clearing Sh109,000 fee balance.

Matthew Kibet had walked out of the school on Tuesday carrying his metal box on one hand and a mattress wrapping his bedding on the other hand after being sent away due to fee arrears.

In photos and video that went viral on social media, the boy could be seen reluctantly leaving the school compound escorted by staff.

NO HOPE

He walked five kilometres to his grandmother’s home and had no hope of raising the fees.

A day after his predicament had gone viral, a well-wisher deposited Sh109,000 to the school’s account. Kenyans online treated Kibet to a full school shopping that included a brand new mattress, ablanket and a new set of uniforms as he reported back to school.

NTV visited Kibet in Karas village, North Pokot on Wednesday where he lives with his grandmother after his parents separated. Kibet explained how he went to class and found his locker missing after it was taken to the storeroom alongside his other belongings.

His grandmother said the boy is always sent home for school fees and there is nothing she can do as she depends on well-wishers.

Kibet scored 325 marks in KCPE to gain admission in the prestigious school. His woes started from Form One when his alcoholic father was unable to pay his school fee leading to the accumulation of Sh109, 000.
