Drama as Kampala Lord Mayor is arrested while on live TV interview – VIDEO
Uganda Police on Thursday staged a dramatic arrest of the Lord Mayor of Kampala Erias Lukwago at his gate while he was conducting a live interview on NTV Uganda.
In what generally turned out to be a day of chaos amid heavy police presence in the country’s capital, dozens of armed officers besieged the Lord Mayor’s home in Rubaga surburb and cordoned it off early morning.
The officers then engaged the opposition leader in heated arguments before pouncing on him as he was fielding questions from journalists.

He was thereafter roughed up and had his clothes torn before being bundled into a police van parked nearby and driven to Kira road police station.
There was more drama as the Mayor’s security detail comprising police officers and those who came to arrest him fought among themselves.
