Kaindi in court to quash Uhuru’s order on retirement

By MAUREEN KAKAH September 8th, 2015 1 min read

Outgoing Deputy Inspector General of Police Grace Kaindi has moved to court to challenge President Uhuru Kenyatta’s decision to retire her.

In her court papers, Ms Kaindi says a Deputy Inspector General of Police cannot be fired without following due process.

She wants the directive suspended.

She has sued the National Police Service Commission and the Attorney General.

The President had last week appointed Mr Joel Mboya Kitili as the new Deputy Inspector General of the Police.

Ms Kaindi was appointed ambassador.

Differences between Ms Kaindi and Interior Ministry officials, among other issues, may have cost her the job.
