Kaindi accuses policewoman of adjusting her skirt

Deputy Inspector General of Police Grace Kaindi has accused Corporal Linda Okello of altering the size of her official uniform.

In a phone interview on Tuesday morning with QFM, Ms Kaindi said the contentious skirt had been resized,

“That is not the skirt we gave her, she worked on it. All of us are given the same uniform. Have you ever seen another one?” posed Ms Kaindi.

Corporal Okello has been cautioned for dressing inappropriately after a photograph of the traffic officer  in a tight skirt was published in the Sunday Nation. The picture went viral on Facebook and Twitter.

But in an exclusive interview with Nairobi News on Monday, Corporal Okello insisted the skirt was her official uniform and that she had only gained weight since it was issued.

However, Ms Kaindi, when asked what an officer is supposed to do if she gains weight, said the corporal should have sought for a replacement.

“If it is tight she is supposed to exchange it in case she gains weight,” said Ms Kaindi.

“Please don’t make an issue out of nothing. Read that regulation on police dressing, it is open to the public,” she added.

Ms Kaindi had on Monday assured that though the corporal will be reprimanded, she will still be based at Lari police station.
