K24 anchor celebrates milestone after surviving liver cancer

K24 anchor Anjlee Gadhvi Noorani on Wednesday celebrated eight months since she underwent surgery to beat cancer.

Ms Noorani was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2013, but only went public about it last year after various treatments options had drained funds raised by family and friends

She eventually appealed for public help and received a donation of over sh6 million from Kenyans in hours.

On Wednesday, she shared an image that captured the moment she was being taken for an 18-hour surgery in January this year.

“Fighting cancer has taught me to be gracious even in the face of adversity.. ?January 7th 2016, I was going in for an 18 hour surgery. One of the most happiest, anxious & scary moments of my life… I chose to smile and went in really not knowing the outcome. But just hung on to faith,” she wrote.

Ms Noorani, who is now back on the screens, encouraged Kenyans to be grateful in every situation.

“I was hoping ‘For a better life’, for my family & myself.. A BETTER LIFE. 8 months down the line, i am still smiling. Every single day is reminder of my exsistance, and I’m ever grateful for it.. Situations may not be as you’d prefer, but hang on to faith that it will be better,” she wrote.

Kenyans on October 16, 2015 raised over sh6 million after the anchor was hosted on Kameme FM’s breakfast show. During the interview, she narrated how she had spent sh7 million raised from family and friends since her diagnosis in 2013 and needed sh8 million for the surgery.
