Jubilee MCA to table impeachment motion against Kidero

February 8th, 2016 1 min read

A Jubilee MCA will present a motion to impeach Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero when the county assembly resumes its sittings.

The MCA, in the motion,  will cite the recent claims that Dr Kidero bribed Supreme Court Judge Philip Tunoi in order to get a favourable outcome to a suit that challenged his election.

The Governor is expected to open the county assembly on Tuesday after a Christmas recess.

A member of the House Business Committee had confirmed to Nairobi News that the impeachment motion will not be included in Tuesday’s order paper.

Roysambu MCA Peter Warutere said the motion on impeachment was never withdrawn and now was the best time to revive it.

“We will be playing an oversight role once the Judge is found guilty, the giver of the bribe will not be spared,  he will be forced to step aside,”said Mr Warutere.

However the Jubilee leadership distanced itself from the impeachment motion.

“If there is an impeachment motion, it’s not from the party but a private member motion since we have not sat as a party to discuss it,” said the minority chief whip Hashim Kamau.
