Jubilee leaders welcome ballot papers ruling

Jubilee leaders and MPs have lauded the Court of Appeal on their ruling that overturned a High Court judgement blocking Al Ghurair of Dubai from printing presidential ballot papers.

The MPs, who are part of a team campaigning for President Uhuru Kenyatta dubbed Uhuruto Express, said the Judiciary had shown Kenyans that it respects the constitution.

Just last week, the Jubilee brigade led by President Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto, castigated the judiciary accusing it of working with the opposition to effect regime change.

The High Court had ordered the re-tendering of the printing of presidential ballot papers, something that did not go down well with Jubilee.

The MPs led by Othaya MP Mary Wambui said the ruling was fair accusing the opposition of filing cases against the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) with a plot to interfere with the body’s timelines.

RIG ELECTIONS

The Court of Appeal, they said, had saved the country from violence while ensuring that the election date is not affected.

Nominated MP Isaac Mwaura told Nasa presidential candidate Raila Odinga to opt out of the race if he was not ready to face the electorate

“If you thought you’d win the elections through the courts, then you are mistaken. You better tell Kenyans the truth that you are not ready” he said.

The MPs also asked the opposition to keep off cabinet secretaries with allegations that he is plotting to rig the elections.

Gilgil MP Nderitu Mathenge told off the opposition over their submissions that the election should be postponed if the systems fail.
