Journalist in plea for help after exhausting resources during campaigns
A journalist is living in agony after she exhausted all her resources in the campaigns in the run up to the August 8 General Elections.
Sharon Chepchirchir, 27, who unsuccessfully vied as an MCA for Ng’enyilel ward in Turbo constituency is now on the verge of being auctioned while the people she contracted to offer various services during the electioneering period are now baying for her blood.
Ms Chepchirchir, formerly a writer with The Star newspaper, is now appealing to well-wishers to come to her aid.
“I’ve been having sleepless nights wondering where I will get the money. In fact my leg is almost being paralyzed on one side,” said Ms Chepchirchir who campaigned for the seat on a camel.

She said that her intention for vying for the seat was not to enrich herself but to assist the vulnerable groups in the society including the orphans, disabled and widows.
Ms Chepchirchir, who resigned from her job to pursue politics, said that although she is a trained journalist, she was now ready to work with any organization to assist the less fortunate in the society.
The former aspirant called on the Jubilee administration to consider the party’s aspirants who lost in the 2017 elections but still stood and fought for the party ideals.
“I know most of them are suffering in silence yet they are undergoing the same problem,” Ms Chepchirchir told the Nation in an interview.
