Governor Joho takes time off from Nasa campaigns – VIDEO

Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has announced he is taking a break from the ongoing national political campaigns.

In a brief video posted on his Facebook page, Joho, who is a key member of the opposition outfit, Nasa, cited religious reasons for his move.

“As you are aware that we are in the month of Ramadhan, so in this last ten days mimi nataka kufocus kwa maombi (I wanna focus on prayers) as I have done for many years… after Ramadhan we will hit the ground running and as you all know, mambo yanabadilika,” Joho says in the short clip.

Joho also explained that he will be mobilizing Nasa supporters in Mombasa County in the coming few weeks.

The Mombasa Governor, who is also ODM’s Deputy Leader, has been an instrumental part of the Nasa campaigns where he has been seen and heard explaining how the opposition group plans to safeguard their votes.

Nairobi News is, however, informed that Joho could have taken time off from the national campaigns so as to concentrate on his own political situation, amid growing competition from Wiper Secretary General Hassan Omar, who is working around the clock to unseat him.
