Jimmy Gait: I’m setting new trend

By JOHN MUCHIRI February 10th, 2014 1 min read

After releasing the much-hyped song Makekes, singer Jimmy Gait  has been criticised by fans who said the video is more secular than gospel.

Some TV stations have even refused to give it airplay in their gospel shows, citing the scantily dressed women.

However, Jimmy said he is not apologetic about the video, adding that it is setting new standards in the music industry.

“In every industry, there is always that one person who changes things, and I am one of them,” he told Chillax.

“When Daddy Owen released System Ya Kapungala, he was criticised for doing a Lingala song, but was later embraced as he changed the gospel industry. I have set new standards in video making in this industry and I am not turning back,” said Jimmy shot the video in South Africa.

It was directed by Africa’s most sought after video producers Godfather Productions.

They have done videos for Africa’s greats such as P-Square, Bracket, Mr Flavor and Davido.
