Jeff Koinange assures on his safety despite arrest warrant

Television host Jeff Koinange has said “he is safe for now” two days after a Nairobi magistrate issued a warrant of arrest against him.

Nairobi Senior Resident Magistrate Maisy Chesang had issued the arrest order after Mr Koinange and businessman Tony Gachoka failed to appear in court to answer charges of discussing the conduct of a company in the media despite a court order barring the same.

The offence was allegedly committed on ‘Jeff Koinage Live‘ show that the journalist hosts on Kenya Television Network (KTN).

The decision was a result of a complaint by businessman Jimi Wanjigi, Mr Sani Mbui Wanjigi and Kwacha Group of Companies Limited.

Mr Koinange declaration of being safe comes amid speculation that he could be arrested moments after hosting his show at a Nairobi hotel on Thursday evening.

The speculation led to a series of inquiries from his followers on social media.

“After #JKL, please tweet when you are home and safe” @ThumbeLirnah tweeted

“Love him or hate him, we follow @KoinangeJeff to the station and care about his safety” @Jumaniature said.

“Don’t worry about the arrest, Dr James Mwangi will pay the bond, @ahmednasirlaw will take over and #KOT will roast the Mafia”. @Samuel_ke added.

Mr Koinange responded, by declaring “I’m ok … for now”.
