Jaro Soja: I was only trying to meet my friend President Kenyatta

Gor Mahia’s number one fan Jared Otieno aka Jaro Soja says he was only seeking to meet and deliver a message to his ‘friend’ President Uhuru Kenyatta when mean-looking presidential security struck.

The football fanatic spoke exclusively to Nairobi News on Thursday, a day after he was manhandled by the presidential guards during a public function in Nairobi.

Jaro Soja met the full wrath of the security men when he attempted to walk towards the Head of State at the main dais.

Photos that captured the incident show two security men pulling Jaro Soja away while squeezing his right arm. Jaro Soja now says he was injured during the incident.

“I hope the President saw this incident on the news bulletin and reaches out to me, I want to meet him,” Jaro Soja told Nairobi News.

“His bodyguards were tough on me, they pushed and threw me away. One of them pressed my arm so hard I got injured.”

“The President is my friend, I only wanted to meet him and ask for an appointment because as football fans we are happy with the efforts he is making to he unite the country. We want to meet him and encourage him to end tribalism as well. Just that.”

Jaro Soja has met President Kenyatta at State House in the past. He was later offered a job as a civil servant but he seems hesitant to discuss whether he took up the job.
