Jamhuri Reggae Festival 2017 concert postponed
The Jamhuri Reggae Festival 2017 which was scheduled to be held at the Kenyatta International Convention Center (KICC) grounds on 2 December has been postponed.
According to the organizers, the cancellation was due to the current political environment which has resulted in uncertainty and potential security concerns after a protracted electioneering period experienced in the country.
“The current political climate which has adversely affected the required enabling environment required to stage a concert of the intended caliber has forced us to arrive at this decision. We have had to take this precaution in the interest of the safety of our fans, artistes and supporters,” said Head of Cornerstone Entertainment management.
The reggae festival was to be headlined by reggae crooner Freddie McGregor and Mighty Culture.
The organisers have however assured fans who had bought advance tickets for the concert that the tickets remain valid for use at the new concert date which will be communicated soon.
But should they wish to have their money refunded this will be done through the same medium/platform which they used to purchase them.
The first edition of Jamhuri Reggae Festival was held last year at Safaricom Stadium Kasarani, and saw Jamaican reggae stars Capleton and Queen Ifrica stage amazing performances. A host of local reggae stars also performed.
Head Cornerstone Entertainment was also behind the hugely-successful Damian Marley concert at the Carnivore Gardens – the biggest reggae concert in Kenya this year.
