Jackson ole Sapit enthroned as ACK archbishop


Reverend Jackson Nasoore ole Sapit was on Sunday enthroned as the sixth archbishop of the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK).

He will also be the fourth diocesan bishop of the All Saints Cathedral Diocese.

Archbishop ole Sapit replaces retiring Archbishop Eliud Wabukala.

The ceremony was attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta, his deputy William Ruto and the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, among other dignitaries.

They newly enthroned archbishop was elected in May through secret ballot by an electoral college of about 190 members drawn from 37 dioceses countrywide.

Speaking during the function, President Kenyatta said the church and State have a duty to work together to eradicate corruption, poverty, disease and other vices.

“We are a godly nation but we also need to be a prosperous nation,” President Kenyatta said.

He urged Archbishop Sapit to emulate his predecessor Eliud Wabukala in bringing the country together.
