Insurance firm pays out Sh500m for JKIA fire


APA Insurance on Monday paid Sh500 million to Kenya Airports Authority to settle part of the claim following the August 7  fire that gutted down the international arrivals terminal at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

APA insurance chairman John Simba said the company is keen on settling the full claim once all the necessary papers are submitted.

“The move to have the initial payout is aimed at assisting KAA continue its remedial work and we will expeditiously settle the claim resulting in that unfortunate incident,” said Dr Simba.
