Ian Otieno off to Zambia days after ‘signing’ for Sofapaka

Former AFC Leopards custodian Ian Otieno is headed to Zambia for trials just days after he was reported to have penned a long-term deal with  Sofapaka.

The solid shot stopper has been training with the 2009 Kenyan champions in pre-season since the start of January having been released by Leopards in November 2017.

Indeed, there were reports he had put pen to paper to join ‘Batoto ba Mungu’, with club pictures showing him donning the club jersey.

This, however, doesn’t seem to be the case.

Zambian mid-table club Red Arrows have announced on their social media pages the 24-year old former Posta Rangers players is among a contingent of nine foreign based players trying out at the club with aim of securing a move.

Other players eyeing a deal at the Lusaka based club are Andrew Tololwa, also a Kenyan striker, who incidentally was also released by Leopards last November.

These two join Ghana forward Patrick Enniffu, and two Congolese players namely Luka Luazu and Abu Zuberu.

Internationals Jesse Were, Anthony Akumu, David ‘Calabar’ Owino, John Makwatta and Clifton Miheso are the Kenyan footballers currently based in Zambia.
