I will vie for MP in Westlands in 2022 – Xtian Dela

Vlogger Xtian Dela has excited his fans and followers after he announced that he will run for public office in next year’s general election.

Dela shared the news on social media, saying he will vie to become the next next Member of Parliament for Westlands constituency.

He asserted that the youth in the country were tired of old politicians and it was time for the young people to take charge of the country.

“I will be the Member of Parliament of Westlands Constituency in 2022. Let’s show them the POWER of Social Media and the power of the YOUTH in Kenya who are TIRED of OLD and USELESS politicians!!!! I BELIEVE WE WILL WIN!!! OUR VOICES MUST BE HEARD!” tweeted Xtian Dela.

The vlogger said his manifesto will mainly focus on creating jobs and safe spaces for young people to be creative and make money.

“I haven’t started on my Manifesto but one of the main things I MUST do in Westlands is create JOBS and SAFE spaces for young people to be creative and make money! Imagine!!! This country is so messed up that I have to stop my private businesses to help run it. I have decided to be on the forefront of change rather than shout from the back!! I believe true change starts from us…WE ARE THE TRUE CHANGE!” he said.

Dela, real name Arthur Mandela, recently dominated headlines due to his explicit Club Covid Instagram live shows that captured young women competing in twerking for a cash prize.

He was then summoned and grilled by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) after three parents sued him for airing explicit content and infringing on the rights of teenagers.

They accused him of broadcasting obscene material online during the Covid-19 lockdown last year and engaging young girls before the show then later raising funds to pay them.

However, during an interview, the vlogger defended his content saying he started the show to help talented artistes who lost their jobs due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The show, he argued, was meant to create a platform where dancers and video vixens could earn a living.
