I was sacked for endorsing Waiguru as next Nairobi Governor: Ondieki

Former Nairobi county executive in charge of environment Evans Ondieki has sensationally claimed that he lost his job  for endorsing Ms Anne Waiguru for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat in the 2017 elections.

Governor Evans Kidero sacked Mr Ondieki on Tuesday in the wake of the shameful crisis that saw the city choke in uncollected garbage.

Mr Ondieki on Wednesday appeared at a public function with Ms Waiguru where he made the allegations of getting fired for endorsing the former Devolution secretary.

The two had met representatives of women groups from Nairobi at Ufungamano house who also endorsed Ms Waiguru’s proposed candidature.

“Kidero is a failure in management; it is by the grace of God that the companies where he held big positions are still running,” said Mr Ondieki.

Ms Waiguru was however quick to distance herself from the endorsements, saying she was caught by surprise.

CORRUPTION

She said the purpose of the meeting was to thank the women for the support they gave her when she was embroiled in claims of corruption in her ministry.

Ms Waiguru said she has learnt to have a thick skin and is now able to cope with any challenge thrown her way.

“I realized that women can be stretched and not break. I am now well and can face any challenge thrown at me,”said Ms Waiguru.

Mr Ondieki announced at the same event that he will move to court on Thursday to contest his sacking.
