Nairobi was reduced to a ghost town during the Christmas festivities with most residents opting to stay away from the city centre.

But even as the city’s CBD remained deserted, there was a heavy presence of security agents on major Nairobi streets.

Save for a few families who were spotted in recreational parks, most Nairobians opted to spend both Christmas and Boxing Day out of town.

Hundreds of armed security personnel were however spotted patrolling the streets of Nairobi and randomly stopped passersby for questioning.
