Letdowns could be opportunities

November 19th, 2013 1 min read

Colonel Sanders, the founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) started his dream at 65 years old.

This was after he received his first social security check of $99.

He was angry about it but instead of complaining, he did something about it.

At that time, he was broke and only owned a small house and a beat up car.

He wanted change but the only idea he had was a chicken soup recipe which his friends loved.

He left his Kentucky home city and began going around the states telling restaurant owners about his chicken recipe and giving it to them for free.

What he wanted was for restaurant owners to pay him a small percentage for the pieces of chicken sold.

Changed eating habits

One thousand and nine people told him no before he finally got one Yes.

With one yes, he changed the eating habits of the whole world by creating KFC, one of the largest food franchises in the world.

How many of us will keep knocking doors after we have been told no a thousand times?

Sanders’ story is the greatest illustration that age shouldn’t be a barrier to our success and neither should finances.

As motivational speaker Rev Jean Bosco puts it, all you need to make it is an idea put into action and persistence regardless of your age.

He counsels that you carry on your project, taking one step at a time.

He, however, notes that whether one succeeds or not, it all boils down to whether one believes in himself to be able to do it or not.
