Canada pours Sh586 million to support women’s rights groups
The Canadian government has given women’s rights organisations in Kenya Sh586 million in grants to promote issues of gender equality.
Canadian High Commissioner to Kenya, Lisa Stadelbauer, said the funds will benefit approximately 120 women’s rights organisations across the country by enhancing their effectiveness.
It will support the lobby groups to enhance their structures, programming and ability to deliver quality services in their bid to promote women’s and girls’ rights and equal opportunities for everyone.
“This initiative will promote a vibrant, sustained and healthy women’s rights movement,” said the envoy during the launch in Nairobi.
