Bloodbath at KPA, KRA as Uhuru seeks to shore up revenue

Top parastatal officials were on Tuesday sacked as President Uhuru Kenyatta seeks to boost revenue collection and purge on corruption at the port of Mombasa.

The sackings were part of the resolution of an inter-agency committee formed by President Kenyatta to look into the issues affecting the port’s operations.

The sacking were jointly announced by Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery, his Transport counterpart Jame Macharia, Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Commissioner General Njiraini and Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet.

Those kicked out include Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) managing director Gichiri Ndua.

Other top staff at the parastatal sent home include general managers in charge of operations, legal services, corporate services and head of security.

KRA has also sent home it’s head of huma resource and redeployed it’s head of investigations and enforcement

IG Boinnet also sent home Mombasa Port OCPD and the county criminal investigations officer.
