Airtel inspires students in Kangemi

Students from over 20 non-formal schools in Kangemi on Saturday got a chance to interact with Airtel Kenya employees through an Airtel sponsored- symposium that was held at Kangemi Resource Centre, Nairobi.

Employees of the mobile phone services provider used the forum to inspire students, answer questions and share insightful knowledge that will help them identify their career paths and develop skills that will help them become better people in the community in future.

Speaking at the event, Airtel Kenya CEO Adil El Youssefi affirmed that the company is committed to empowering students with the necessary support through their education journey in order to enable them make the best career and personal choices in life and become the best they possibly can.

“One of the greatest investments an organization can make in the lives of young people is the ability to envision and spur them to greater heights and goals in life. The symposium today offered us an opportunity to connect with the students, pass on our knowledge and experience to this next generation,” Youssefi said.

GREAT OPPORTUNITY

The company also connected the Kangemi Resource Centre’s computer lab to the internet for free as part of its Internet for Schools program.

The computer lab which is accessible to over 80 non-formal schools and youth around Kangemi will enable students, teachers and youth in the community to access information available online, helping them to unlock their potential.

Kangemi Resource Centre coordinator Mr. Alix d’Ansembourg said: “It is inspiring to see the students interacting with the team from Airtel. This is a great opportunity for the students which I believe will give them real hope that they can also make it if they take these tips seriously.

“The internet connection will also give our students to broaden their learning for their own individual success and that of their families.”
