The rise on cost of goods has severally been blamed on the rising cost of production with the Kenya Association of Manufacturers stating that energy costs have the biggest impact on prices.

In February this year, the association ruled out a full-scale reduction in prices stating that the reduced energy costs ought to remain fixed for six months before consumers can benefit.

Data produced by the association indicated that firms experienced 50 per cent increase in the cost of power between July 2013 and July 2014.

Between July 2014 and January 2015, however, there was 27 per cent decrease in power price, bringing the net change from 2013 to December 2014 to zero.
