Horror as police recover woman’s body in Githurai swamp


The body of a woman who had gone missing was on Friday found dumped in a swamp in Githurai 45 area.

The body had been cut into two pieces around the waist area and had multiple injuries.

Residents identified it as that of 21-year old Ms Elizabeth Muthoni. They said she used to work as a nearby M-Pesa shop.

Police say she was killed elsewhere and the body dumped at the swamp.

GUNSHOT WOUNDS

In Kayole, police shot two suspected thugs on Thursday night killing one. The second gangster was rushed to Nairobi West hospital with gunshot wounds and admitted in a serious condition.

According to witnesses at the scene, they heard gunshots from Kayole Sokoni area and alerted police officers who were on patrol.

The officers rushed to the scene and established that six men had entered Sokoni guest house and ordered everybody to lie down as they robbed them of their valuables.

The body of the slain suspect was taken to city morgue awaiting postmortem and identification.

And a man residing in Dandora Phase 5 on Thursday afternoon called police officers after he saw five suspicious men breaking into a residential building.

SHOOTING AT OFFICERS

Administration police officer who were nearby were alerted and moved in swiftly and after challenging them, the suspicious men started shooting at the officers.

Police returned fire and managed to killed two as the rest escaped towards Maili Saba area on foot.

The two who were in their mid-twenties had no identification on them.

The police recovered a homemade gun capable of firing with two rounds of 9mm, two machetes and two crowbars.

The bodies were moved to city morgue awaiting autopsy and identification.
