Homa Bay Senate candidate forgets loaded gun in hotel

January 21st, 2015 1 min read

Homa Bay Senate by-election candidate Fred Rabongo left behind a loaded firearm in a Kisumu hotel room where he spent Sunday night.

Mr Rabongo, a former National Social Security Fund boss, is vying on a National Agenda Party of Kenya ticket.

The gun, a Smith and Wesson pistol, was found loaded with seven rounds of ammunition.

CID officers from Kisumu were called by the hotel’s management who found the gun in the room after Mr Rabongo had checked out.

Efforts by the police to trace him on the mobile number he provided while checking in at the hotel were fruitless.

The Central Firearms Bureau is checking on its records to confirm the registered owner of the firearm.
