Hero who helped animals in Tsavo needs a kidney transplant

A man who won praise for delivering thousands of litres of water to animals at Tsavo National Park after their water holes dried up due to drought is now in need of a kidney transplant.

Patrick Mwalua took o his Facebook page to announce that he is in desperate need of a kidney transplant.

Mr Mwalua took to hi Facebook page and appealed for help saying that he had been seeking a kidney transplant for several years now.

“I’m planning a trip to India in the next several weeks to meet the doctors and make plans for a transplant by New Year,” posted Mwalua.

He added that he will be grateful for anyone who is available to donate money for the transplant.

Mwalua says that he is looking for friends who can offer him advice on how to make appointments in hospitals, the best place to book for accommodation and help with transportation while in India.

In early 2017, Mwalua used to a hire a water bowser from Voi town  and drive 70 km in the wilderness looking for the animals and fill their watering holes.

The pea farmer grew up in a village close to the Tsavo and developed a passion for wildlife conservation from a young age.
