Ever imagined how a Sh3 million wooden table would look like? Well, relax – we have the details, complete with a picture.

Kenyans on Facebook Thursday went gaga after State House posted a photo of a not-so-big table valued at Sh2.9 million.

“President Uhuru Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta admire the Ramara Lily table worth Sh 2.9m at State House, Nairobi. Explaining the table’s details is Bardeeep Panesar of Ramara Limited,” read a caption accompanying the photo.

The table was designed and made by Ramara Limited and won the Design Quest Award in 2010 for creativity, aesthetics and functional art.

The Nairobi News could not confirm whether State House retained the prized table but Ramara lists “State Lodge furniture for the Kenyan President’s lodges” as one of its clients.

“We encourage our clients to challenge our creativity and design ability,” boasts the manufacturer on its website.

But reacting to the picture, Facebook user Tiba Peter wondered: “Unafinya button meza toka meza rudi?”

Another user, Ithe Wa Kamau, wrote: “Rumour has it that the table is remote controlled, it cooks & serves anything u order….& its a convertible…. It can convert to a car……”

Raymond M Nzioka weighed in: “Kwani iko na dispenser ya chai?”

The image was uploaded late Thursday afternoon on First Lady Margaret Kenyatta’s official Facebook page, Office of the First Lady Kenya.
