Here is State House’s hotline for voters harassed on Election Day
State House has unveiled a toll-free telephone number to enable potential voters worried of their security on Election Day to reach out for help.
The telephone number will also be used by potential voters to report any suspicious activities and incidents during the October 26 presidential elections.
State House Director of Digital Communications Dennis Itumbi, in a Facebook post, informed those who will feel threatened to send a text or WhatsApp message to the number +254736002529 to get help.
THREAT
Users will be required to provide information on their location, polling station and a brief description of the threat.
Mr Itumbi told Nairobi News that the initiative was initiated after State House received numerous phone calls from Kenyans who expressed fear for their lives and property on Election Day.
“Anyone who feels threatened or bullied so as not to turn up and vote should feel free to use the number provided and report. Their identity will be protected and depending on the nature of the threat it will be linked to the necessary agencies, including police,” said Mr Itumbi.
