Helicopter church bishop linked to M-Pesa fraud

A controversial city bishop is being probed over millions of shillings collected through Mpesa for his church.

Bishop Thomas Wahome of the Helicopter of Christ Ministries could be prosecuted if investigations find he obtained the Safaricom fraudulently.

He collects up to Sh10,000 a day from the line and has been doing so since 2007, a court was told.

Police claim initial investigations suggest the bishop’s sister might have pretended to be his estranged wife and had then fraudulently applied for the phone line to be transferred to him.
