Harambee stars to play Sudan in midweek friendly

Kenya will be looking to improve on its FIFA ranking when it takes on Sudan in an international friendly in Al-Fasher, Darfur on Wednesday.

Stars are currently ranked in 109th place and will be looking to gain more ground in the rankings.

Head coach Adel Amrouche named eight foreign based players with the exclusion of first choice keeper Arnold Origi in the squad.

Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama, his brother McDonald Mariga and prolific striker Dennis Oliech will be the main players for Stars in this fixture.

Mariga returns to the squad after a two year absence

Also in the squad are a number of Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards players who took part in their teams’ continental assignments at the weekend.

This is the first game Stars will be playing in 2014 after winning the CECAFA Cup last December where they beat Sudan 2-0 at the Nyayo National Stadium.

It is however unclear whether Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards will release their players, with the return leg of their continental matches set for this weekend.
