Harambee Stars roasted online for losing to Iraq in friendly
Harambee Stars’ 2-1 loss to Iraq in an international friendly match played in Basra on Thursday night has evoked a mixture of resignation and disappointment by the team’s fans.
Having already been knocked out of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers by Cape Verde in November 2015, Harambee Stars, under the tutelage of Stanley Okumbi, has resorted to friendly matches in between qualifiers for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, where a tough fixture against Ghana looms in March next year.
Against Iraq, Kenya went two goals down in the first half via a Hekmat Nouri penalty and El Ettifaq’s header on the stroke of halftime.
Spanish based forward Micheal Olunga scored Star’s consolation goal late in the game with a sizzling left foot shot after Clifton Miheso had done all the hard work.
Kenya fans took to Twitter to express their disappointment with the team’s performance. Kenya will next play Thailand in another friendly on Sunday.
Here are some of the comments by Kenyans on Twitter:

Despite Iraq being a war torn country, they still beat Kenya just like the way Somalia did some years back.
