Harambee Stars players to be paid pending allowances ‘soon’
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has said it is working ’round the clock’ to offset the accrued salary arrears currently owed to Harambee Stars players.
These revelations have been made by an official of the federation who spoke to Nairobi News off the record because he is not allowed to comment publicly on such matters.
“I can assure you that’s a minor issue because our office has the best record when it comes to paying the players,” the official said.
“We have experienced logistical challenges but the players will be paid very soon.”
This development comes in the wake of reports suggesting the national team players are yet to receive allowances for competing at the Hero’s Intercontinental Cup in Asia in June.
CRUCIAL ASSIGNMENT
Kenya finished second in the four-nation tournament behind hosts India, with New Zealand and Chinese Taipei claiming the third and fourth positions respectively.
FKF was reportedly paid Sh7 million as appearance fees for taking part in the competition while Clifton Miheso and Joackins Atudo were each awarded Sh250,000 for putting up man-of-the-match performances at the tournament.
Stars next assignment is a crunch 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ghana in Nairobi in September.
