Gunshots, mayhem as Jubilee, ODM supporters clash in Kisii by-election – VIDEO


There was tension at Mochengo polling centre in Nyacheki after an MCA fired shots at voters during a by-election.

Voting was disrupted when Bassi Bogetaorio MCA was attacked by ODM supporters, prompting him to draw his gun and fire in the air to disperse them.

He then jumped onto a motorbike and fled the scene.

OCPD Japheth Mwirichia said the incident was sparked off by a fight between ODM and Jubilee supporters.

Several politicians were attacked by the youth who threw stones at leaders allied to Jubilee.

Bassi Bogetaorio MCA Boniface Okenye was forced to fire at stone throwing youths who attacked him.

Police are looking for him in connection to the incident.

MP’s CAR STONED

Deputy Governor Joash Maangi was prevented from accessing the polling station.

Kitutu Chache North MP Richard Onyonka was forced to flee from Naikuru PAG Primary after a group of youth suspected to be allied to ODM attacked him.

He was forced to use a vehicle that had been hired by pressmen.

Bonchari MP Zebedeo Opore’s car was stoned by the rowdy youth at Mochengo.

He drove away from the scene with shattered windows.

Mr Abaga Sagero was attacked and beaten by youth moments after greeting Mr Stephen Nyarangi, the chair of the African Party Political Caucus and an ODM member.

In a related incident, Homa Bay Women Representative Gladys Wanga’s bodyguard was forced to fire in the air last night as she campaigned for ODM candidate Naftal Onkoba at Nyacheki Township.

Police were keeping guard at the station.
