Gunshots heard at Kamiti Maximum Prison

Gunshots have been heard at Kamiti Maximum Prison after inmates reportedly clashed with warders over searching of cells.

Three people, two prison warders and a prisoner were hurt during the confrontation.

According to Nairobi County Prisons Commandant Madam Wanini Keriri, two prisoners tried to climb the perimeter wall and were shot at by warders.

The prisoners were resisting a routine search for mobile phones and contraband
