HEAVY SECURITY

Those involved in the alleged scam were, however, rescued by police and whisked into a waiting police van under heavy security as the angry mob advanced towards them ready to attack.

Taxi operators raised the alarm attracting hundreds of residents.

An expectant woman, who was with the said ID buyers, had to flee for her life as angry youth bayed for her blood.

Sources said the NYS officials have been camping in the hotel for about two weeks now coordinating  NYS projects in Kisii region.

ID BUYING

NYS t-shirts and records of those in various projects compiled in a file were recovered from the two Government-owned vehicles packed at the basement.

Kisii County Police Commander Abdi Hassan said he was not aware of the matter.

The incident comes a few days after ID buying claims were reported in Kisumu County.

In the Kisumu incident, women who had attended a workshop on peace were attacked by angry youths and injured.

Kisumu governor Anyang Nyong’o has since asked those intending to hold meetings in hotels to liase with his office.
