Group warns parents of radicalisation threat to children on holiday – VIDEO

Parents have been warned to be wary of their children getting radicalised by operatives of terror groups.

In a series of videos by an online counter terrorism support group, Epuka Ugaidi, the group outlined ways employed by terror operatives to lure Kenyan children into terrorism.

The group also outlined measures that parents can adopt during the school holidays to monitor their children’s activities.

In one of the videos, parents are urged to “spend time with the children, have dos and donts outlined, engage them with activities, ensure they play under supervision, monitor behavioral change and trust parental instincts.”

SOCIAL MEDIA

Epuka Ugaidi says extremists are using social media to recruit children, while others are living in residential areas to identify potential recruits.

In the videos, a parent narrates how her son was recruited by Al-Shabaab and kept communicating with other militants in Somalia.

She narrated how her son had changed his names without her knowledge and was set to join the terror group before the plot was unearthed.

The group has in the videos exposed how cars and money used are being used to lure potential recruits to join terror groups.
