Law firm seeks information on governor’s papers from Kampala varsity
A Kenyan law firm has written to Kampala University seeking clarification of academic documents of the newly-elected governor of Wajir County in Northern Kenya, Abdi Mohamed Mahamud.
The request by the law firm of Nchogu, Omwanza & Nyasimi Advocates is mainly to verify whether the governor ever studied the course of Bachelor of Business Administration in the 2012 lot at Kampala University.
“The above referred person (Governor Mahamud) allegedly graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor of Business Administration course. We hereby request your good office to supply us with particulars of information concerning the above referred person who allegedly was a student in your institution,” reads in part the letter of the law firm.
The law firm is acting on behalf of a one Mr Mark Kapchanga Kwemoi, according to Daily Monitor.

Some of the documents that Mr Kapchanga wants Kampala University to release in relation with the governor include; copies of his academic credentials including his degree certificate and his academic transcript from 1st to 4th year.
The petitioner also wants to find out from Kampala University whether the governor completed his studies from there and also whether he is really a bonafide student.
When Daily Monitor contacted the academic registrar of Kampala University, to whom the letter was addressed, Mr Hamza Segawa could neither confirm nor deny receiving the request letter from the Kenyan law firm.
“These are confidential documents that we don’t just give out anyhow to anybody who ask for them. That would not be ethical. Let the owners write to us asking for them,” Academic Registrar Segawa said by telephone on Tuesday when contacted.
Kenyan laws dictate that all governors should be degree holders from recognized and accredited university.
